Preparing Your Child for Their First Day at Daycare

The first day of daycare can feel overwhelming, but a little preparation goes a long way. Start by visiting the center with your child before their first day so they can explore the rooms and meet their teachers in a low-pressure setting.
Establish a goodbye routine that is quick and positive. A special handshake, a hug, and a cheerful “see you later!” helps children feel secure. Avoid lingering, as it can make separation harder for everyone.
Label everything — from sippy cups to spare clothes. Pack a comfort item like a small stuffed animal or family photo for the first week. Most importantly, trust the process: it's completely normal for children to take a few days to adjust, and our teachers are pros at helping little ones settle in.
